In brief

The beautiful parish of Elton is in the northernwest corner of Cambridgeshire. We come under Huntingdon District Council

Our village environment

Verges and village greens

The Parish Council takes pains to preserve the verges and village greens so that the whole village can enjoy them. They are used for May Day celebrations, and games by the young in the village e.g. rounders, football.
Many verges have been planted under the guidance of one resident with daffodils. The bulbs were paid for by all following an appeal.

Litter and Doggie bins

As well as litter bins around the village there are also dedicated doggie bins. These are located outside the village shop and near the entrance to the mill field on stocks green.

Traffic

The volumes of traffic through the village have given rise to concerns about safety in recent years.  Works to reduce speeding in Overend were carried out in 2008/2009.

The area outside the school on school lane can now be used for car parking.

Elton 50/50

The Elton 50/50 exists to protect and preserve the fabric of the Church and the Chapel.  The joint initiative organises such events as the biannual garden trail when over 15 village gardens are open to the public. The next one is in June 2014 (date to be confirmed).
