3. Calor Village of the Year Competition
a) Proposed dates for unveiling – Cllr Elvin will make arrangements to collect sign
from Little Paxton Parish Council (last year’s winner) and for placing at Elton. After
much discussion it was agreed that two dates would be put forward (to Lord
Fairhaven as he likes to attend the unveiling) of Saturday 8th November and Saturday
22nd November commencing at 11.00 a.m. and afterwards at Highgate Hall for
refreshments i.e. Tea, Coffee, Wine and Cakes.
After checking dates changed to 8th November, 6th December, 13th December – if
none of these dates possible for Lord Fairhaven may have to look for day in week!!
b) Allocation of Prize money – Brownies £100, Elton Society £100, Luncheon Club
£100, Women’s Institute £100, The Indie Project £100, 50/50 Club £200. **
c) Next Stage (National) – Cllr Bense will complete necessary paperwork in
conjunction with others to ensure application is in for deadline of 30th November
4. Grass Verge – School Lane
Reply received from Highways Department and picture circulated of types of posts
that they have used previously. All Councillors in agreement that Highways should
asked to fence in verge and Parish Clerk was asked to report back with our agreement.
The meeting closed at approx.9.25 p.m.
