The developer Newlands has submitted a planning application for a series of distribution warehouses on the land beside the A1 west side between the A605 services and Oundle Road. It has done this despite overwhelming public opposition to its proposals and the fact that our MP, Shailesh Vara has also voiced his objections. There is no doubt that, if approved, the scheme will massively increase traffic on the A605 and through our village. It will also breach the longstanding boundary formed by the A1 as a break between the built up area of Peterborough and the open landscape of Huntingdonshire. Once this has been breached, there is every reason to believe that more developers will come forward with plans to urbanise our side of the A1 from Haddon all the way through to Wansford.
As you know, to some extent the planning process is influenced by public opinion AND NOW IS THE TIME FOR ELTON TO MAKE CLEAR ITS TOTAL OPPOSITION TO THIS SCHEME.
The Parish Council has put together some notes to assist you to put forward planning objections. Please use your own words for maximum impact, rather than cutting and pasting the prompts. The notes also suggest the most important people to send objections to.
The deadline for objections is Friday, 8th April 2022.
